About Russell Jones

Russell lives in Glasgow, Scotland and has enjoyed photography since being given a Kodak Instamatic as a child.

He began to learn about large format photography at a workshop run by John Nesbitt and Pete Davis in Wales.

Russell is still entranced by large, individual negatives with long tonal ranges and a level of detail at which the eye gives up before the detail does. In pursuing that ideal with very mixed success, Russell likes the 5x7 format, followed by 4x5. He processes the negatives and scans them at home, or will use a public darkroom to make contact prints.

He also enjoys the everyday qualities of a mobile phone camera that is very useful too as a viewfinder for his PANORAL 57 Ver-III Camera.

Russell recently (June 2024) purchase a PANORAL 57 ver-III and use the camera with a Fujinon W f8 120mm and a Rodenstock Sironar-N 210mm lenses.

He says:
"The Panoral 57 Ver-III is a very portable camera that is easy to set up and produces the images you will see here."

On this page you can see some examples of beautiful images taken by Russell with a PANORAL 57 Ver-III camera.
